Schematic Objects
Composed time-works ...
With his schematic objects Gabriel Bur deals with spatial concepts and interpenetrations, with layering and coating.
The artist interprets the quality of time in a material dimension spatially. Notion of time: time has a spatial as well as a materialized component – time is space. In this way, the objects vaguely resemble clockworks, opening architectural, structural spaces, such as entrance halls or penitentiary rooms. Time can constrict, but it can also liberate and open pathways and spaces, which always depends on the respective way of dealing with it.
In the resistance of foreign-space penetrating objects, organic meets inorganic mechanical forms, layered and coated – non-miscible dispensed in a dispersive system, a material mixture consisting of two or more phases in the finest form – is suspended, emulsified, with the possibility of “dissolving from each other again” as a condition. The painting ground becomes the emulsifier that bridges the boundary between the phases for stabilization.
Colours, materials and forms lend themselves to a new interpretation, creating their own dimensions in the object, showing a joy of experimentation that forms "in advance" from the material, allows to emerge, to go along – disturbing-conceptual creating in a primordial meaning.
