Narrative Stilllifes.
Time capsules excavated ...
Gabriel Bur deals with forgetting and repression of childhood and childlike naivety. – “Everyone has time, and it is of importance to remember.”
The Narrative Stilllifes, created in the context of his creative contact with Anna Adam, are the conceptually experimental exploration of “Spielwerk” (playwork) in surreal snapshots. The play as basic approach results in a sensitive attention to detail in the pictorial composition. Thus, like time capsules, the still lifes are narratives of past moments, excavated to revive memories - pure and free of later impressions. The images tell of periods and moments of a phase of life in which it was a need to hold on to things and preserve them, to bury them in order to dig them up again at some later time and to remember old passions, maybe to revive them.
Causal theme of the images: Spielwerk of our past.
